Each of you will be assigned a Common Core topic and present the class with a lesson plan (not teach it) that addresses the standards for that area. Treat your classmates as colleagues in a professional development workshop. Your presentation can be as simple or complex as you feel is necessary, but must include a handout that gives a brief overview of the standards for both Middle and High School, as well as your lesson plan. Each presentation will be 15-20 minutes long. A rubric for assessing the presentation of a lesson plan will be provided on the course website.
From the list below, please choose one reading Common Core topic and one writing topic. This will be a first come first serve process. Please check the topics that have been chosen before you so that we do not have students presenting on the same material. (Though we could have like a teach-off but I don't think we should turn our classroom into the Colosseum)

Hi everyone! I'd like to claim "Key Ideas and Details" for reading and "Production and Distribution of Writing" for my writing topic. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteJust a heads up to everyone, we can have one person do a topic from the pdf that is not on the list since there may not be enough topics for everyone. There are a few topics that were not included in the assignment.
ReplyDeleteHey all,
ReplyDeleteI'd like to choose "Craft and Structure" for reading and "Text Types and Purposes" for writing. And you're right, Olivia - we're gonna run out soon.
Scott
I'm going to go with "Integration Knowledge and Ideas" and "Range of Writing"
