1. Does your school force you to write up daily/weekly lesson plans? If not, do you write your own? If so, how do you approach this? Do they give you a guideline/template to use?
2. Is it ever a good idea to use the same mode of instruction (i.e., whole class discussion) for an entire class period, or do you always use at least two modalities during a class period?
3. Do you assign homework every night? Are your homework assignments mainly reading?
4. Do you ever allow the students to assess themselves (i.e., filling out their own rubrics)? Do you find that students are harder on themselves than a teacher might be when evaluating an assignment?
5. Are there any particular games or activities that you have found the students most respond to and are most engaged by?
1. How do you go about grading essays? I know you need to have a rubric, but with everyone having different writing styles, how can you make it easier? I feel like it's going to be challenging.
2. What are your thoughts on summer work? I know research shows students missing out when they aren't in school over the summer, and I think reading books over the summer is definitely good. But do most students scramble to do the assignments just before they're due? Is it worth tracking students down to get them to hand in this summer work?
3. If a school is going to have a transfer student that hardly speaks English, do they really make the time to plan an individual program for that student, like they're supposed to?
4. How often do class discussions go off topic to the point of no return? How can you decide if you should pull it back in to what you think they should be talking about, or let it go in a different direction that you didn't know it could go?
1. How do you get your students' parents involved in the classroom? This seems like a tough thing to do in a high school setting, but are there ways to do this you would suggest?
2. Do you have an opinion about field trips. These can be fun for students, but are they conducive for learning? Or are they just a distraction?

What is your policy on food in the classroom? For morning classes, do you allow coffee or dunkins? I've been to a few schools that allow students to have coffees or eat in class and I'm curious as to how you deal with it.
Do you allow students to bring in laptops or take notes using other devices such as surface, iPad, or other tablets?
How many hours a week do you dedicate to lesson planning?
How do you deal with getting off topic or straying from the lesson plan? (teachable moments) How do you manage time when this happens?
How do you keep bias out of your teaching? I've noticed that most teachers do not get to pick what books they teach and I'm fairly opinionated about books. I worry that I will not be able to keep some of my bias out of my teaching.
